What a night for our Gastar Hair girls last Sunday at the Keune Foundation Ball. We are so proud of Marnie receiving her Judges Award of Excellence for her entry as Senior Colourist of the Year for Keune. Keep up your super fine work, Marnie!
And...
Our very own apprentice Lauren WON the National Keune Colour Apprentice of the Year as well as the Estetica Editorial Award! As a result, she gets to spend 5 days in Holland where she will participate in an amazing colour course at the Keune headquarters in Amsterdam. The Estetica Editorial Award means that Lauren and her winning work will be featured in an international magazine! Lauren, we are so proud of you, knowing that this is a tremendous, well-deserved, fruitful beginning of your amazing career ahead.

Keune Tinta Colour Trophy 2010

Lauren Mitchell is a National Finalist for her entry in Apprentice Colourist of the Year for Keune.

Marnie McInness won Judges Award of Excellence for her entry as Senior Colourist of the Year for Keune.

The overall winners will be announced at the Keune Foundation Ball on Sunday 13th June at The Argyle (a funky venue situated at The Rocks). The winner is awarded a trip to Amsterdam, Holland to see the Keune headquarters and main training academy, spending 2 days participating in an amazing colour course at the academy to learn new trends and fashion techniques. A total of 5 days in Holland with $2000 spending money completes this fine prize! Join us in wishing Lauren all the best for her entry to secure a win!

Gregson in the running for 2010 Australia's Mens Hairdresser of the Year title!

Gregson Gastar is one of the top 6 national finalists selected by AHFA (Australian Hair Fashion Awards) in the running for the most hotly contested award in the hair fashion industry - Australia's Mens Hairdresser of the Year 2010.

To enter this competition, hairdressers working in salons throughout Australia had to submit six photographic images, which fulfill the criteria set by AHFA. Gregson's photographic collection of sleek meets street mens hairstyles was able to capture what's hot in current mens hair fashion trends. Movember, 2009

This month, Gregson, Harrison and Paul of the Gastar Hair team officially became 'Mo Bros' in support of 'Movember' - an annual, month-long celebration of the moustache, highlighting men's health issues, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men. Our Mo Bros (Gregson, Harrison and Paul) started Movember (1st of November) clean shaven and have the rest of this month to grow and groom their moustache. During Movember each of our Mo Bros have effectively become walking billboards for men's health and, via their mo', they have been raising essential funds and awareness for Movember's health partners - The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative.

So far Gastar Hair has raised around $80 in support of this cause. We have a Movember donation box at our front desk, so come on in and show your support (and check out our Mo Bros and their mos while you're there!) as we only have 1 week to go, and we would really love to raise a lot more funds to go towards the cause!

Serene Beauty Spring Spectacular VIP night

Serene Beauty's Megan Waters and her graceful team of professional beauticians outdid themselves in a spectacular red carpet event for VIP clients. The Gastar Hair team offered their services on this special night, conducting 'before & after' makeovers for some lucky VIP guests. The results from the makeovers were nothing short of amazing. This event was just one shining example of the comradeship of local Tugun businesses working together to promote the exciting services that the Tugun area has to offer. Serene Beauty salon & medispa is located on the same strip as Gastar Hair, on Golden Four Drive, Tugun. With a wide range of salon accolades and business awards, and their use of industry leading treatments, techniques and products, it's no wonder that Serene Beauty delivers real results without false promises.

'joy' Fashion Label Launch

The Gastar Hair team were overjoyed to be a part of the 'joy' fashion label launch at the Ivory Hotel, Tweed Heads, last Saturday 16th May. Fashion designer/artist Joy French's new clothing range is made from 100% of the highest quality organic cotton that is long lasting and super soft to wear. Mixed with a blend of garment dyes, each limited edition garment is a vehicle of words, themes and images randomly integrating print, poetry, photography and art. All Aussie made and owned, too! We were very impressed with the great choice of venue for the fashion show - Ivory Hotel boasts a relaxed atmosphere with its fine waterfront dining, exotic cocktails and live entertainment.

Gastar Hair were responsible for the crowning glories of all male and female models adorning the 'joy' label garments. We wanted to create a loud, wild and funky look to complement Joy French's ecological, yet urban and wearable clothing range.

What a delight to have Sarah Morley (younger sister of Sam, below) model for us in our latest photo shoot! The Morley sisters possess an enviable, genetic beauty, as you can see. In this photo shoot we wanted to create a sexy bohemian feel to the hair, and everyone had so much fun creating this fresh look. Many thanks to: Gastar Hair's amazing team who maximised their skills and creative talent here with their fine work on Sarah's hair; the make-up finesse of Monique Deveney; and to the great choreography and photography of Gregson Gastar. Gastar Hair Photo Shoot

Gastar Hair's first photo shoot for 2008 was a HOT success. The Face of Gastar Hair 2008 is the striking, sizzling and captivating Sam Morley. You may remember her from Season 1 of Australia's Next Top Model TV show. Everyone that got involved with the photo shoot had such a great time - it was all "happening" with the hair, make-up and dressing up! Many thanks to: the staff of Gastar Hair who tended beautifully to Sam's tresses; the make-up artistry of Megan - owner of Serene Beauty Salon; and to the photographer, who is none other than the multi-talented Gregson Gastar. We are looking forward to our next photo shoot with Sam and her younger sister, Sarah Morley.
